Newly formatted PC lags and spikes

My PC is newly formatted and i installed antivirus and other applications.. after installation I try out stuff like surfing webs and play games it lags and spikes. and when i check the task manager the The CPU USAGE goes up to 100% just by using mozilla firefox or google chrome. I already checked if the hardwares are up to date and they are using Driver Checker application..

You need to install all the Windows Updates too. XP is up to Service Pack 3 and beyond...
