No active partition set

hello everyone
when partitioning my hard drive I did not set the primary dos drive as active so I now get an error saying cannot read fixed disk. How do I now set the primary dos drive as active. Am ruuning windows 98

Use your favourite partitioning tool. They all allow to set partitions active. With what did you do your partitioning in the first place?

I used fdisk in windows 98 to partition the drive originally

Menu option 2 in fdisk lets you set partitions active. It just might help..
