No Boot After Installing SATA

I just bought a SATA Hard Drive, but after hooking it up, the computer won't boot up. After unhooking it, then the computer loads up. The computer will also not read the SATA DVD+RW Drive I installed. What's going on? I checked the BIOS and everything is set up on AUTO. I also checked the Device Manager and both SATA controllers are installed and working properly. Any ideas?
