No center channel with Audigy

Audigy and 5.1 with Win 98se. During test center channel does not work. It goes to the channel and pauses as if it was outputing but there is no sound.
Digital output, AC-3 and bass redirection is unchecked.

Any ideas ?

Altec Lansing Model 251.

Oh...and the switch on the sub is on 6 channel.
Plus surround is set in multimedia in Windows.

It looks like the subwoofer is connected to the same plug - does it work?

Sorry, I've looked around & all but I can't really think of a reason why it wouldn't work.
I guess you could try posting on news://news.creative.com see if nyone there has a an idea. I'm stumped though
