No Internet connection even if cable and NIC is working fine

Hi guys I could use anyone's help. The problem is with my desktop pc. I connected it to the modem using a new ethernet cable but I can't access the net. To test the cable, I plugged it to another pc and I got no problem connecting to the net. When I borrowed another cable from a friend and tried it on my desktop, it connected directly to the net. Which means that there is no problem with either the cable that I bought and the NIC of my pc.

The message that I get when I use the cable that I bought on my pc is "Unidentified Network". Can anybody help me out with this?

You should tell Windows firewall that's your new home network. I don't see why a new cable would make your computer think that your old internet connection was something new.

Last post was ~month ago, but if you're still having problems:

sounds like you're not finding/getting the DHCP settings correctly.
Get a command prompt and entery IPCONFIG /ALL >myTCP.txt
and attach the myTCP.txt file in your followup
