I have a peculiar problem, I cannot record any sound at all. Simply put, the microphone doesn't work. It used to work on Vista until I downgraded my computer to XP. After I installed the driver for my sound card, which is a Realtek High Definition Audio I could only listen to music, which was okay. But now I need the microphone for Grade Seven. Anyways, I looked around and Microsoft proved useless (as always). When I tried to look at the microphone volume stuff, the Line Volume, Mic Volume, and Stereo mix were greyed out. And when I looked in the Control Panel, the Voice recording advanced options were also gone. Please help.

If it's greyed out, it means it's not installed (the software that is)
Locate your sound card drivers from your manufactures support page (if your system has xp driver support)

Install the sound card drivers (software)
