No sound after XP installed

Please forgive me as im new to all this, but ive just installed windows XP a friend gave me after my system was wiped somehow???
Now I cant hear a thing if cd`s are played or if I download tutorials off any site?
Any help would be most appreciated

If you've just done an XP reinstall, you're almost certainly missing the drivers for your computer. Computer makers typically provide the drivers for each make/model for Windows Operating Systems on their websites under Support
> Click to your System Vendor's web site (If your system vendor isn’t listed in the post, find go to their their support site online)
> Look in their Support section
> Enter your computer or motherboard model number. They should provide you the drivers
