I understand most things about computers and can fix things with instruction, but I have difficulty finding the problem myself. I don't know how, but my laptop has no sound at all. I looked under my Control panel and went to sounds and audio devices and all options are faded grey. It says "no audio device." I have never touched my sound card though nor tweaked it in any way. Can anyone help guide me through this mess?

If it helps I have an IBM thinkpad it's a type 2888NU1. I don't really know if that helps anyone to help me. I tried entering Access IBM and setup and failed at both places.
