No sound at all says "No audio device"

  1. I understand most things about computers and can fix things with instruction, but I have difficulty finding the problem myself. I don't know how, but my laptop has no sound at all. I looked under my Control panel and went to sounds and audio devices and all options are faded grey. It says "no audio device." I have never touched my sound card though nor tweaked it in any way. Can anyone help guide me through this mess?

If it helps I have an IBM thinkpad it's a type 2888NU1. I don't really know if that helps anyone to help me. I tried entering Access IBM and setup and failed at both places.

Go to the IBM support website and download and install the audio driver for your laptops model and operating system
