In order to help you people need information!

Download and run Everest Home (it is free):

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html

Once you download it, click on it and let it install and then run it from the icon on your desktop.

Click on the + sign beside 'Computer', then on 'Summary', then go to the VERY top of the screen and click on 'report'.

Cursor over 'quick report-summary' and then click on 'plain text' and then click on 'save to file' and change the 'save in' folder to 'Desktop' and then click 'Save'.

Clear all your open windows and on the Desktop click on that 'report.txt' icon - this will open it in a text editor
(probably Notepad) and then use your mouse to highlight ALL the 'debug' entries and delete them, then use your mouse to hilight all the remaining text then copy and paste it to here.

For future reference: once you open Everest, click on file, preferences, report and uncheck the 'include debug information in the report' box. People rarely want to see that stuff.

go to dell's website and download the sound drivers for your computer, you will be better off installing the chipset drivers first though, then the audio drivers

There should be a 'service tag' number on your comp somewhere - use that for fast location of drivers for your Dell.

i cant find a audio driver all i can find is sound blaster and i clicked tht and it says i need a sound blaster hardware and i dont no wer to get tht from

click the link that i gave you.

new window will open & navigate to Audio (2) of the page

choose & click ADI 198x Integrated Audio.

will take you to another window.

download the R56339.EXE.

thnx

thank u.

It works now. im so happy thnks now tht i can play my game with sound thnx.

No sorry I'm real computer illiterate. I just got excited when saw that someone else had the same problem. How do I do that? thanks for your help by the way.

Hi Nanswa,

try the link below:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/dow...All&OSFullName=All+Operating+Systems&lang=eng

download & save the file but before installing the driver.please ensure
you un-install your existing audio driver (might be corrupted).

go to device manager & check if you have the AC'97 integrated sound &
uninstall it.

likewise go to add/remove programs & if AC'97 sound still appears,
remove it.

when done,install the driver.
reboot & try your sound.

if it didnt work, please start/create your new thread Here

Thanks turbo but don't laugh I'm still trying to locate if I have the AC'97. Is it an obvious location in device manager?

yes, check on your device manager & add/remove programs too.

if you found nothing, then you can proceed with the installation.

reboot & try your sound.
