Norton seems to block a Windows Defender application

When I look in Norton Internet Security's log viewer, it says that it stopped unauthorized access by C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSMPENG.EXE. Also, I have not been able to update the Windows Defender definitions. Is Norton causing Windows Defender not to work, or what?

Go into the Firewall/program access options,and allow Defender access.

Even better,download Zone Alarm and AVG,and uninstall Norton.

Thanks, Peddant. This is actually my dad's computer, but when I get mine, I will probably use AVG. Norton hogs resources, I've found.
