I get blank screen after the system enters Windows XP option.

This happened after the system got affected with a Trojan. I got message that a Trojan has been detected and system needs to restart. When I restarted, the system did not start up.

Following is the sequence :
Systems starts.
a.I press power buton & Wierd sound (light but wierd) comes
b.Dell logo appears
c will get two option
1. Windows XP recovery conole
2. Windows XP professional

When it enters Windows XP professional, nothing comes up, only black screen.
Windows XP recovery console works fine

Same problem happens for the following

1 Safe mode
2 The best last know configuration

I do not have the Windows XP CD as I missed it.

I guess some virus is causiong this problem. Any inputs on this.

Have you checked out our Virus and Malware Removal forum? If not read the Updated 8 Step sticky and go from there. If you have issues with any of the steps let them know on that forum. You could still be infected.

I am not able to boot the system, so I would not be able to run the 8 steps.

I tried booting with CD-ROM which has AVira Rescue System. But it sais ,no bootable device found ( i think my CD -ROM is not working , when I ran diagnostics, it failed for CD-RW test).

Can I use flash drive for booting? Which antivirus is bootable from falsh drive? I tried Avira, but again, I got error "no bootable device found."
