Hi

HP4335NR won't power on. Went thru a phase where wiggling the DC plug got power to the unit, but it is increasingly harder to do. And battery pack has died. It is not the power transformer.

How involved is it to replace the jack? I have read that some jacks are epoxied in, and the joint breaks. And that soldering is the correct method of connecting the power terminals.

I just looked at the HP manual online. It starts w/ removing a cover ... and completely disassembles every item before getting anywhere near the component holding the dc jack.

Is there an EASY way to get to the jack?

Is there a good tutorial w/ lotsa good pictures on the topic?

Common problem. The replacement jacks are common on eBay, but you must really know your soldering techniques.

Yes, it must be disassembled. The required soldering techniques will mean failure if you do not take it apart... and if you are not good at soldering, you don't have a prayer.
