  1. Hi guys

Not posted in an age, but I hope you will not hold it against me, and be able to help me out!

I have just bought a Western Digital Caviar 500 gig hdd. Installed it in my system, partitioned in 2 50 gig, and 2 200 gig sections, NTFS.

When I boot, I get this message:

    nVidia Boot Agent 201.0462

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable

    PXE-M0F: Exiting nVidia boot agent

Disk Boot failure, insert system disk and press enter

I have tried reinstalling, but no change.

System boots fine if I leave the Windows disk in the drive, albeit very slowly.....

I have checked for loose connections, reseated cards etc etc.

    System is:

    Athlon 64 San Diego
    Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra SLI
    nVidia GeForce 7600 GS
    Audigy 2 Platinum

    a gig of RAM
and the aforementioned WD HDD (IDE)

System was working fine and dandy before the installation of the HDD.

Any help would be much appreciated.

The last time I came across this we cured it by disabling the LAN boot option in the BIOS.
