For some reason when I open "My Computer", then access one of my hard drives it opens the "search" window and not the "open" window. So currently I have to right click on the HDD and then either click "open" or "explore". Can anyone tell me how to switch this back so it opens the contnts of the HDD.

    Thanks Steve

    Hi,

Ive got this from another forum so sorry if it doesn't work so well,
    Apparently this works

    click on start > run

    type in: regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

press OK & wait to complete.

You didn't say what operating system you were using but if your on XP

    Go HERE
On the right hand side click on Win XP Fixes
then ion the list look for Search/Command Prompt Opens When Double Clicking a Folder

    follow those instructions for repair

This HERE is also a similar fix.
under the letter "F" scroll down to "Folder Opens Search Window" where you'll find the fix for this problem.

Try one of those and come back if nothing works
