Opteron 1 series or Athlon 64s.

Hi I was just wondering which would be better for gaming plus other common pc usage such as web browsing, etc.? I might overclock but not with any advance cooling like water or phase-change.Planning to get the Artic Cooling 64 Pro.

At stock speed, the 3500(2.2)+ would be faster than the opty 144(1.8).

A better comparison would be a 3500+ to a 146(2.0), or a 148(2.2). The 146 would probably be just a little slower than a 3500+ and the 148 just a little faster.

If your overclocking, opterons will likely clock higher than the athlon 64 cpus.
The 146 would probably be my choice if overclocking.
