Oracle wins round one in bare-knuckle Android patent suit

Oracle has won an early round in what is sure to be an epic battle against Google over Android's use of Java.

This week, Judge William Alsup issued a "claims construction" order in which he sided with Oracle on the definition of four out of five patent terms that will help determine outcome of the company's lawsuit against Google and Android. On the fifth term, he sided with neither company, choosing to lay down his own definition. Oracle and Google have until May 6 to respond to the order.

For now, I don't think one can make much out of it, but it isn't a good start for Google.

What are the likely results, if Oracle wins,
for people who in good faith purchased Android powered devices?

I am sure one can't hold people 'accountable' in this scenario, as they didn't (or rather never) knew what was going on behind the scenes.

Not my point... (not sure I had a point per se)
but it seems to me that if Google looses,
that is bad news for all owners of Android powered devices.
Just wondering what the scope of that bad news might be.

At worst (provided that Google looses in court), Google may have to pay some sort of penalties / license royalties in future. Afterall, it is all about money in the end.
