Outlook Express 6 on Windows XP Home SP 3 messages have a "From" header, and there my email address is displayed. Due to this, it often happens that my just sent emails come straight back to ME! Is there a way to remove this "From" header, or is it there by default?
Help please anyone?

Open OE
Click on "Tools"
Click on "Accounts"
Click on "Properties
Remove the Reply Address field (with your email addy in it)
Apply Ok

Test again

Outlook Express 6 "From header"

Thank you kimsland. Before submitting my query, I tried everything. The field you mention has always been blank - I have never entered my reply email address there. My problem is therefore not solved by your kind reply. Any further suggestions please?

Outlook Express 6 "From" header

Thank you kimsland! I do have IE 8 Beta 2. I am not sufficiently knowledgeable to try to uninstall IE, which is so deeply interwoven into XP (A great mistake by Microsoft, which has worked against them) for fear of ruining my XP OS, which is the best OS I have ever had, since I installed SP 3 (by downloading an ISO image and burning an install CD of SP3 with install wizard, from TechRepublic) I would rather just put up the annoyance of the "From" header. I have Steve Bass' book PC Annoyances, but find nothing there either.

Service Pack 3 does not come from TechRepublic, it comes from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsxp/sp3/default.mspx

But just doing Windows Updates is enough

Also your writing is a bit confusing
Normally write in point format like this:

I have sp3
I have IE8 Beta
OE is failing
And so forth...

This will help you to be clear

Now IE8 Beta can be removed in:
Start->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs
Locate IE8 Beta, and remove it
IE6 will automatically then return
Test OE again
