hey yall, i come here whenever i have a problem, and you always are very helpful. so i come with a relatively simple problem. i just bought an intel quad core q9550 2.83ghz cpu. but whenever i start up, it says its running at 2.67ghz. my question is this: how can i clock it up to the specified amount (i have never attempted an overclock before, so i appeal to your collective years of wisdom).

    HI Darth,
I have an idea what it might be. have you checked in your bios to see what your multiplier is set at? i suspect it might be at 8. and i think you have a place where you can fine tune and add that .5 to the multiplier. another thought is that the dynamic energy saver, is changing the X down and up to 8.5 under load. im a AMD guy, but i have heard of this. im sure one of the more lernid in here will be more specific.
