Hi, I have installed my sound drivers after reformatting and they are the ones that come on the CD with the laptop.

The sound works fine (system sounds, media software sounds). however, this is only on the laptops naff little mono speaker. I plug in my 2.1 system attatched to the desktop pc into the green input socket on the side of my laptop and only some sounds come out of the speakers.

    Sounds that come out:
    Windows MEdia player
    Reason 3

    Sounds that dont come out:
    Log in and out jingle
    The Volume ajusting "bing" noise
Any "bings" and "bongs" that windows makes (you know what i mean)
    Adobe Audition 1.5

This is beginning to get a problem.

    Can anyone help?

Head into the Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices. Make sure that there are sounds assigned to those functions in the "Sounds" tab and make sure your speakers are selected under the "Audio" tab.

If it still doesn't work, go to Start>Run>services.msc>Ok and look for anything beginning with "Windows Audio". Make sure the service is started and is set as "Automatic".
