PC-compatible MacOS comes at a price
By Andrew Orlowski in London

Exciting news from the world of Apple. Eighteen years after the launch of the Macintosh, Apple has made a PC-compatible version of MacOS. But it comes at a steep price. Apple chose to break this extraordinary news at the unlikely venue of CompUSA's web store, as this picture [click to enlarge] illustrates.

The CompUSA offer allows you to upgrade to Mac OS 10.2 for only $82,402.02. It's in the "PC compatible operating systems" part of the store, so start re-partitioning those Dells now, folks.

It's gratifying to see our call for Apple to raise its prices taken seriously. To the reader who paraphrased Not The Nine O'Clock News by offering to sell his house and all its contents to buy the MacOS upgrade... now you can.

Don't mail us if this URL dies or this special offer ends abruptly. It's only the e-commerce equivalent of an electronic shopping cart developing a wobbly wheel, so you can only make it turn left - just like a real shopping cart. ®

If it was free maybe I'd consider it...

No, wait, I don't want Apple infecting 5 GB of my hard drive. Nevermind.
