Pc restarts itself while gaming

Hi this is my first post. lately my pc has been restarting itself while playing games. i recently installed a new video card. i think it could be low power supply. anyone have any ideas?

Most likely your power supply. If you have any low-end cards lying around your house, trying using those to see if it causes a problem.

What video card are you using and how many watts does your PSU supply?

I recently installed a 9600gt but before that i had a 7300 gt and there was no problems at all. My power supply is a 430w

I bet it's a PSU problem. The 9600gt requires a 400watt PSU, but it requires 26amps of power across all of your (if you have more than 1) 12v rails. If you don't have that much amperage, your video card underload could cause your computer to not have enough power, resulting in it shutting down.

I'd test a less powerful GPU if you have it lying around before you got out and buy a new power supply. Just a suggestion tho.

well when i had the 7300gt installed it never restarted.

By the way what would be a recommended wattage for a new PSU?

There's some nice PSUs that you can get that aren't too expensive. Try to get a 550watt or higher, because I'm sure you'll want some room for expansion in the future.
