Pc working properly, then shut off and makes beeping sound but no boot

PC operating properly, was watching a DVD, left computer for 20 minutes, returned after hearing a beeping sound. PC will not boot back up, only beeps when power is turned on! what happened?

is it a siren type of beep? if so then ur cpu is overheating.
