PCIE x 16/x8/x4 Myths

There have been many comments and bad uninformed advice given out as of late about Motherboards that have one or more PCIE slots running at A 'mere X8, or X4 for that matter. a lot of you are being told that PCIE running at x8 and x4 are useless and with degrade performance by 50% and 75% respectively. this is not at all the case. check out these scaling benches using the two biggest GPU's out there.

That is very interesting. I wonder how the results would change with a much slower card though, like mine for example. I assume they would pretty much level out, which is good news for me. I have been thinking about cutting off all but the x1 connectors on my GPU once I upgrade it, so I will be able to have both installed, and power 3 monitors without any fancy adapters.
