Guess it's my turn now. Periodically and infrequently I lose the hibernation setting on my laptop. When it's lost, the laptop reverts to Standby mode when the lid is closed, which drains the battery. I can (and have) just reset it -- Goofy, but the setting is still Hibernate so I toggle it to Standby and then reset to Hibernate and close the Toshiba Console->Power Management tool. (btw: have not discovered any other settings to be altered) Platform is Toshiba Satellite mx35-s161 running XP/Pro SP2 fully updated. What do you think?
