Ping Related to FPS?

  1. Hi,

So I play alot of games. And I just built a new pc.

    Antec 900 two case
    4GB DDR2 Ram
    Geforce GTX 260 Core 216
    OCZ GameXStream 700W PSU
    500GB Sata hard drive
    Intel Core 2 Duo E7500
    Asus P5Q SE PLUS motherboard

    My internet speed is 512kbps
So ill get to the point. In crysis I can run on enthusiast(very high) smooth but its around 30fps. And on multi my ping is over 100. But when I lower to gamer(high) preset I get around 50fps and My ping lowers to around 60. Is this due how games send packets per frame resulting in more packets sent due to higher frame counts. Also just a note I did this at 1PM 4PM and 7PM yesterday and the day before to check. Its all quite consistant. I also made sure I kicked my family off their computer and shut theirs down to prevent them from downloading.

Anyone got any insight into this? 512kbps should be sufficiant for around 90 ping average shouldn't it? I'm not looking to upgrade or change ISP. Also I have done the same type of tests in CS:S,COD4,TF2,and Far Cry 2. All very similar results to my crysis test.
