Iam new to this, so don't laugh too hard. I need to know how to make it play a DVD.

By "play a DVD", I'm guessing you mean a standard movie DVD-Video disc,

When you installed the DVD burner, Windows installed the necessary "drivers", so nothing else needs to be done on that front.

You must install the necessary software to play DVD-Video. This can be done by installing a "codec" into the Windows Media Player, or through the use of aftermarket software such as, "Win DVD", "Power DVD" or Nero "Showtime". I believe that there are also several free players available for download, although I'm not certain which to recommend.
