Pixel Qi 3Qi netbook screen kits announced, sold out

  1. It's been roughly two years since startup Pixel Qi spun off from the OLPC project to work on new display technologies that would reduce power consumption to help extend the battery life of laptops. The company has been showing off the fruit of its labor on a few tech trade shows since last year, and while the technology may not be available built into any netbooks, e-readers or tablets just yet, yesterday Pixel Qi began offering a DIY upgrade kit for adventurous modders.

  3. This is great. I wish I can connect my android phone and use this as an external Monitor so I can use my Android phone with 3g and browse the internet like the iPad.

    I've seen a PixelQi display in person and it's awesome for outdoor viewing. Much easier on the eyes than a backlit LCD. This tech is able to bridge the gap while a fast-refresh color e-Ink develops.
    I'm surprised crApple didn't put this in their iPad. I'll wager that they'll have it in iPad 2.0.
