Please give brief description of your troubleshooting techniques and what you would do

[FONT=Trebuchet MS]The user is running Norton Antivirus but the icon is no longer showing in the task bar. Attempts to see if the process is actually running by using Task Manager fail as the Task Manager keeps disappearing after a couple of seconds. What is the likely problem and how would you troubleshoot it? [/FONT]
 
The likely problem is that you're copy-pasting an assessment question directly to internet forums. Without even trying to figure it out.

Anyway, the problem is likely virus/malware closing down certain .exe's to help itself. You can probably boot into safe mode and have it disabled, then run some scans.
