Please help me with The Sims 3

when i download the game and open it
a screen appears that tells me that the game is not completly downloaded
and then the game closes
i tried to reinstall it 5 times
what should i do????

I recently downloaded and installed The Sims 3. But when I launch it, it gives me a full black screen, and then it brings me back to the desktop...Help? I have a Windows XP:

----System info: 2.2GHz, 1024MB RAM, DirectX--9.0
----Device: ATI 9600 SERIES
Memory: 128.0 MB
And the requirements for sims 3 are:

-PC:Windows XP SP2-------------------?? what does SP2 mean?
-CPU: 2.0 GHz P4 processor-----------??what does the P4 have to do with it?
-RAM: 1 GB RAM
-Hard Drive: 6.1 GB+1GB for storage
-VideoirectX 9.0

I know this is a long post and complicated to respond to, but you smart people out there, please help me!!!

Right click on the sims icon on the desktop select properties got compatibility tab and run it in windowed mode if that dowsn't work then try doing the same thing but this time select run in 640x480 res
