Please need help dvd burner malfunctioning

    Hi my name is Crystal.
    My DVD burner Model ATAPI DVD A DH20A4p ATA Device is malfunctioning.
    When I put in a disc (QuickTax 2008 for example) The light comes on as it reads the disc, then when I go through windows explorer to the drive I able to see what is on the disc, but when I try to access or run one of the files I can hear the drive spin and spin and it hangs up everything the only way to power down the PC for reboot is to hold the power button down.

    I have tried :
    updating the firmware
    uninstalling the device then rebooting and windows vista notices the device and re-installs it.

    After both actions there is no change.

    Please somebody help :wave:
