Please re-setting CPU Frequency?

 This message keeps coming up when I first power on my PC.
Spec: KN1 SLI mobo, AMD 64 3500+ processor, 4 * 1 GB DDR 400MHz and twin 256mb graphics cards.

Other issues that may be related:

As the machine boots up, it reports that it has only 2.8 GB of RAM, and this is confirmed by windows XT. I have swapped the Gig-sticks around trying different configurations of 1, 2,3,4 of them in different slots and I can confirm each slot works and each stick works but whereas 2 sticks gives 2 GB of R A M, 3 sticks always gives 2.8 GB and 4 sticks does not improve on that.

Running check-it diagnostics program, this reports back that the memory allocatio fails the test.

I have tried to change CPU frequency but have to admit I am new to this game and cm unsure of the AMD Frequency to RAM frequency ratio I should use and how best to change it.

Would be very grateful for some HELP!

Set the bios to Optimal settings and check your motherboards manual for the proper location/configuration of the systems memory. Read carefully, and make sure the RAM you have chosen is compatible with your motherboard
