Possible mouse driver issue

I've been having frequent crashes on my laptop where the trackpad will lock up and then seconds later my computer crashes. After startup, after one crash, I was given a blue screen because the trackpad was still locked up. It showed the source of the issue to be the i8042prt.sys, though I'm not sure what to do-because on a DLL scan this file was not shown as corrupt as missing and it is up to date. Though on one of the DLL scans, the vmmouse.sys did come up as corrupt or missing so I'm wondering if this may be the issue. Anyway, thanks for reading, and any help is appreciated.
