Power alarm does not work

    My Dell Latitude continually drops its power cord when working on the lap. This is annoying in itself, but even ,ore annoying when the PC hibernates.
    I have enabled both the low and critical battery warnings in Control Panel, and they consistently remind me to switch to outlet power....... after I restart. Which is a tad pointless.
    My 'other' PC warns me when the cord falls out (very rarely) by dimming the screen.
    Can some body help with this annoying quirk?
