It's hard to feel sorry for stupid people. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not laughing (not even cracking a smile). Can't believe how many are laughing at this, insensitive pricks, it's a ducking tragedy and everyone laughing at it.
Tragic, but unless something that occurred that is not mentioned here I really don't see the need for punishment. Perhaps what they call in Canada a "Conditional Discharge"

It's a .50 AE, not a .50 BMG.LOL .... guess she didn't bother to look up what the penetrating power of a .50 cal is. .22 is a sure thing up to a .223, .9mm, .45 but .308 and higher will go the distance. .50 cal .... maybe if he stood behind the encyclopedia britannica shooting through each volume, closely packed ...... guess she didn't read that far! LOL

The distinction...is fairly important:
Can't believe how many are laughing at this, insensitive pricks, it's a ducking tragedy and everyone laughing at it.
It's pretty hard to feel any kind of sensitivity regarding such stupidity. Can't believe how many are laughing at this, insensitive pricks, it's a ducking tragedy and everyone laughing at it.
Well, I've seen some posts on this site that suggest similarly asinine stunts that are contrary to good, sound science.Another 'why is this on techspot' article. lol
Well, I'm willing to play devil's advocate here. Perhaps in school if she were treated as if she was anything other than a baby machine, should would have taken an interest in chemistry, physics, and mathematics. STEM is something for everyone.LOL .... guess she didn't bother to look up what the penetrating power of a .50 cal is. .22 is a sure thing up to a .223, .9mm, .45 but .308 and higher will go the distance. .50 cal .... maybe if he stood behind the encyclopedia britannica shooting through each volume, closely packed ...... guess she didn't read that far! I absolutely agree with you. The woman will never, ever do this again, unless she is completely mentally incompetent; but, that is the law in the US. Remember, the current motto is "Law and Order."Tragic, but unless something that occurred that is not mentioned here I really don't see the need for punishment. She may have, but the make factory workers school system probably treated her as if she did not.If she had an IQ high enough to be a successful STEM student she wouldn't have been a baby machine.
As an American that does not own guns nor wants one, I see the "fascination" as stemming from our Constitution's Second Amendment rights. Some of the more questionable gun owners, at least as I see them, seem to think that they need to have guns to protect themselves against being controlled by an onerous government. However, I have to ask is that clear thinking when virtually every police force in America has a SWAT team, and if worse came to worse such as an attempt by the more questionable gun owners to overthrow government, the government possesses things like Predator drones, and now this - http://www.popularmechanics.com/military/research/a27103/army-laser-apache-helicopter/What is it with Americans and their fascination with guns? And a Desert Eagle to boot... Although it's a tragic story, it's also just rank stupidity on both parties behalf. Lives changed and ruined irreparably just because of it.
So, I've flooded this thread with posts, but after this, I quit - I promise. Her boyfriend was in search of fame and fortune. I think this says something about the prevalent societal attitudes that amplify what amounts to essentially meaningless garbage. Her boyfriend certainly is not taking any of that fame along with him nor will any human. Until humanity learns to live together and to help each other survive and develops an economic system that encourages and helps develop financial security for all without having to pound the dark matter out of your fellow human being, people will continue to do stupid stuff like this all in the name of fame and fortune. It's hard to feel sorry for stupid people. It's just.. where was that thing called common sense?

absolutely it was an accident. crime is only when someone kills someone intentionally. as victim was also forcing her to do so! and she didn't had any wrong intention. all the case is lack of knowledge! and I don't think it is supposed to be a crime. there will be no use of sending her to correctional facility.
correctional facility as name suggest it must be a facility where criminal realize their mistake and correct their mind. but unfortunately jails seems to further pushes the criminal toward crimes.
