Printer malfunctioning?

    So yesterday I was trying to scan a picture, and my scanner jammed. Nothing much, unplugged it for a few. When I plugged it back in, I kept getting a "This USB device has malfunctioned" Message. Which made me fustrated. I tried to reinstall the drivers only to fail. Helpplz?

    As for my printer...
    It's a Lexmark 5495.

    My system is Windows XP/Alienware.

    If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it.
