Problem loading XP

  1. Hello folks. This is my first visit. :)
Im having a problem I've never come across before.
Im trying to load XP pro on a compaq 5000.
Ive formated and loaded XP hundreds of times on other computers.
On this particular one, XP comes up and checks the config, checks the disk, ect.
It loads all the necasary files, like normal.
When that portion of setup is complete, the computer reboots.
Usually on restart, XP begins to load the OS.
However, this one is instead starting back over with the setup again.
Ive tried multiple HDs, different sizes and brands, and different jumper settings.
Every single time the first part of setup is finished, and the machine reboots,
it starts back at the beginning. The XP disk is fine, Ive checked that as well.
Could sure use some help. :)

Thanks jobeard. Any chance I can get those files from a driver download site
or some other resource, or do they absolutly have to be purchased?
Id rather not sink any cash into this one. :)
BTW, I do have the floppy emergency diskette... just not sure how to use it, or if it will help.
Thanks for taking the time to help, as well.

should be on the OEM CD and usually they're on the website under support or downloads.
