This lovely day I go to open up steam to play a game when I see a pop up for updating my ATI drivers.

Inside my head I'm like 'oh I must need an update, so without a second to spare
    I press update.

BUT, whats this? Oh woe is me, while installing the ATI driver update

my screen turns BLUE and it says

'Your pc is shutting down to prevent further damage.'

    WHAT THE COW?

I restart my pc and I get this message:

No ATI graphics driver is installed, or the ATI driver is not
functioning properly. Please install the ATI driver appropriate for your ATI hardware.

So my question is, HOW DO I FIX THIS?

Can someone please kindly give me the solution to my problemooo. :[

(Also, now that something went wrong my screen resolution is funked up and I am missing the option that suits my monitor that I had before!)

Try to uninstall your graphics driver through Add or Remove Programs (Windows XP) or Programs and Features (Vista and W7). Download the latest graphics driver applicable to your graphics card from the AMD/ATI website and install it.
