I've been trying to get a DX10 game running under Windows 7 but I keep getting the d3dx10_39.dll error each time. In DxDiag it shows that DX11 is installed and there are no problems so why isn't it working? I ran the end-user runtime web installer from MS but that seems to want to install DX9 over DX11 so I don't know what to install, or if this is even possible. Any ideas before I just run the game on Windows XP...

Well it's fixed. Initially copied the missing file to C:\Windows\System32 but the game still wouldn't start... so I ended up just reinstalling DX from the game disk twice and it worked after that. Not really sure why that didn't fix it the first time but it's fine now it seems. Weird.

Download and install the latest version of dx from microsoft. Since win7 is still new it still has bugs. Also keep your video drivers updated.

^When I downloaded the latest End User Runtime from MS, it started downloading optional components for DX9.0c, so I just canceled it. I couldn't seem to find anything that included files for DX10/11 until I explored the contents of the game disk. Like I said before when i copied the correct DX file manually it still didn't work, so I had to run the actual installer from the disk.

Game runs perfect now though, so I guess DX10 is running fine; DxDiag shows no errors as well so i call that fixed. Didn't need to update my video drivers either so it's basically just a specific DX10/11 problem, that doesn't necessarily need to be installed in Windows 7 I guess.
