  1. can anyone tell why and or what I should do the get my computer to read that there is a disk in my dvdrw. I have a hp dvd writer 200j in an hp media center pc 873n. most of the time when I put a blank dvd disk into the drive it detects it as a cd at least when you go to my computer. but if I try to burn on it the computer usually gives me some error message saying there is no disk in the drive. But occasionally it works, not that often though.

    Welcome to Techspot!
A number of things can cause that, but We need some more info. What CD authoring software are you using?
    - Check for Firmware updates for your Writer.
-Turn off Windows writing software, Property page of the Drive
    these can be a start.

Also check the Burner's docs for media recommendations...some burners don't play nice with certain budget blanks.
