Problem with G-Card For PC?

Hello, My current G-Card was a Geforce 5200, having recently bought a new G-card Geforce 6800 GT, When i put the 6800 into the pc and turn it on there is a high pitched noise that comes out stright away, With or Without the cable from the monitor connected to it.... any ideas? the PC works fine with the old one in but it aint upto the standards i need

what are system specs?
Leave the old card in the machine and un-install all video software and drivers.
shutdown.
Install the 6800 and go into bios and make sure everything is set right. Boot
into windows and install the latest drivers from Nvidia....77.77.
