Seems my brother in-law shelled his hd and I am trying to recover some of his data. I took his hd to work and plugged it into our troubleshooting rig which is a PII 450 and it sees the hd, but since it is a Gov't pc rig I can not install my utility on it so I brought the hd home and my rig won't even recognize the hd tried every jumper config and 4 different ide cables with no success. My rig at home is GA-7VT600-L, Athlon XP 2800 Barton and 1Gb of 3200 ram. Rest I am sure is un-necessary. If anyone has an idea let me know as I will continue to work on this cause I enjoy a challenge..Thanks

Try HDD Regenerator, small utility on a floppy
There is a trial version, but you will need it sooner or later.
Absolutely the best, with almost incredible results.
