but is there anything else i can do to fix my computer??

i've looked on this sight and seen that this problem has occured before but he or she had the system CD, whereas i dont, please help

thanks for any help available.

First; the system still has all your files intact, so don't get anxious to reformat.

Everything in \windows\system32\config\* is the REGISTRY and there are FIVE files
to be recovered, not just the one.

You need a bootable CD; Once booted from it you can copy
\windows\repair\*.* to \windows\system32\config\
and it will then be bootable --

BUT Immediately Boot into Safe Mode and run a System Restore to
get the full recovery of your latest registry.

run->C:\Windows\system32\Restore\rstrui.exe
