    ~ \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM ~ is missing or corrupted,

    i've looked about for the disc for the window setyp CD-ROM but, i believe i've lost
    (which i can tell isnt any help at all)

    First; the system still has all your files intact, so don't get anxious to reformat.

    Everything in \windows\system32\config\* is the REGISTRY and there are FIVE files
    to be recovered, not just the one.

    You need a bootable CD; Once booted from it you can copy
    \windows\repair\*.* to \windows\system32\config\
    and it will then be bootable --

    BUT Immediately Boot into Safe Mode and run a System Restore to
    get the full recovery of your latest registry.

    run->C:\Windows\system32\Restore\rstrui.exe
