Hello all,

long time no see... how is everyone.

I am currently trying to fix one of my friends computers, its a fairly old one and I have established that the harddrive was damaged beyond repair. Gave it the flick and bought a new one, formatted it on my computer using NTFS file system and put it in his. I changed the first boot device to cd rom because i need to install XP but it says:

Verifying DMI pool data............
Boot from ATAPI CD-ROM: Failure.....
Invalid partition table

and it sticks on that...

Anyone have any idea how to fix this problem?

Thanks for any replies.

Regards,

Check the cable connect, check the jumpers are correct, check it spins up, try another CD (may be damaged), buy a new CD drive

Cant help thinking it is some problem about a HDD formatted in your PC not recognised in another...suggest you put it back in yours and FDISK it to nothing, then patition and format in the new PC from the XP install
