just a quick post,if any of you are thinking of changing your thermal paste on your PS3 do it -IF YOU or SOMEONE you know can strip the ps3-i did it to my one last night and it is definetly running cooler.Sony put to much paste on and it runs over the cpu and gpu and when its open give it a good cleaning. do it at your own risk.

Wow, jtickner1, I never realised you were from Australia. I never realised that.

How did that go? pretty easy? I am running out of space on my 60 gig
  9. Myzz617 Newcomer, in training Posts: 382

actually it was not easy. I had to order a new HDD cage because I stripped the screws badly. Other than that part it was not that hard i used a USB sata converter and used a 20GB Hdd to back up data, back up and restore took 90mins all together. That was the easy part. I upgraded from a 60Gig as well.

    did u use a 5400 or 7200? If u used a 7200,is there any extra heat?
  11. Myzz617 Newcomer, in training Posts: 382

I am 85% sure its a 5400 RPM, how ever I have noticed a slight increase in temp when my ps3 is on but I dont play for any longer than 6 hours @ a time. Half the time its more like 3 hours a day if I am lucky.

80GB PS3 is coming to europe! Will it have a 65nm chips like the 40GB?
  14. Darth_Terra1 Newcomer, in training Posts: 234

The only difference is the HDD size, the spec as far as i know remains the same as the 40GB.

personally the ps3 is the best gaming console for the new generation and frankly it has a strong fanbase and top of the line games defending its title such as gta4 and metal gear4 and killzone3 devil may cry and i could go on its simply the best console right now no doubt
