PSU Help

Hi, i have recently bought a new 500w psu after finding out my old 250w psu wasnt enough to power my system. I have just bought loads of modding stuff..new fans..cathodes etc. I have connected everything apart from the cathodes up and today i decided to connect them up... then i tried starting my pc and nothing would happen. I had it working perfectly before but without the cathodes. I would get everything running for a very small time before the it would all cut out and nothing would happen. Now i cant even get the CPU fan to work just on its own. Nothing happens at all now and i do not know what to do. Can someone please help me out.. cheers

You might have a bad psu or you didn't hit the switch on the back of the psu or the voltage is sat wrong. are you sure you have everything wired right. :hotbounce

500w means nothing if the rest of the PSU is not up to scratch.
What make, model, specifications?
