Hi
Help me please, feeling puke:
I have just put together my upgrades to my PC (new MOBO Graphics card, memory, cpu.
Whilst trying to get around sorting out XP, turned on my PC / PSU supply button on the back, all of a sudden it sparked and went bang, with smoke.:dead:

I have no power, its set for 230, which is correct - i'm in UK.
My real concern, has this damaged my new upgrades? (MOBO etc)

It was a CASECOM PSU 500W

thanks for help, chris

It is possible that your psu has indeed damaged your other hardware.

However, untill you try a new psu, you won`t know for sure.

If you`ve been lucky then a new psu will be all you need.

Regards and good luck Howard :)

Hi Howard

Thanks for reply, do you know of any good recomended PSU's to look out for, and approx prices - I guess the one I just brought was bad.
Yes I do hope the PSU thats gone :dead: hasn't damaged my new upgrades:mad:

regards Chris :) :)

Psu`s by Antec/Enermax/Fortron are generally accepted as being of good quality, and reliability.

Do a search on www.newegg.com. You should be able to find a psu that will suit both your system, and your pocket.

You may also want to take a look at this Psu wattage calculator.

Maybe this excellent thread HERE will also be of interest to you.

Regards Howard :)
