Puppy linux for data recovery, mouse and keyboard stop working

    I am trying to use puppy to recover data from my XP SP3. I can get the puppy to load by entering puppy pfix=ram,noram. The system loads and I can start to search the drives, the keyboard and mouse work for about a minute and then they stop responding. Any clue as to why they stop responding?
