Question about standby mode and antivirus

I just started to use standby mode on my pc with XP service pack 2. My question is that when I come out of standby mode my antivirus and firewall icons (Antivir and Sygate) are not in the system tray and I want to know

1) Does this mean they are not running and I have to reactivate them
2) If so, how can I prevent standby mode from deactivating my antivirus and firewall?
