Im about to bring back an old game XP

I have red alert 2 installed on my vista machine. it works fine, but it wont save.
it wont save the mission progress, it wont save my name in multiplayer/skirmish,
and it makes me watch the intro movie everytime i start the game.

if anyone has a cause/solution would be great.
