Radeon RX 480 into two monitors DVI/VGA

Hello everyone, I just bought myself new pc (told the store to build one for me) couple of months ago and a new monitor. So, at the moment I am using ASUS VS228-NE from dvi with a hdmi adapter (so I am using a hdmi cable). My previous monitor is ACER G225HQV with just VGA entrance.... I have tried plugging in the other monitor into VGA exit of my pc but nothing happened. My question is... Is it possible to run 2 monitors with monitor extending?? Please help me out here with what I need to buy in order to run this.

You are using one monitor that is connected to your RX 480, which is your selected video output and you tried plugging in the VGA monitor into your motherboard slot? Am I right?

You need to have both monitors plugged into the RX 480, but depending on the manufacturer, that might be impossible
If you have an HDMI and a DVI output in your RX 480 then I suggest you buy a DVI to VGA adapter and then

1. Connect the ASUS VS228-NE via HDMI
2. Connect the ACER G225HQV using the adapter into DVI

If your DVI port does not support analog signaling, the DVI to VGA adapter will not work. You may need to reference the RX 480 Owner's Manual and see which DVI port you have (DVI-I, DVI-D, DVI-A). VGA needs analog signaling which is not available in DVI-D ports.
